Jane and I first visited Prague in November 2019, remember way back then, before we’d ever heard of Covid-19?
Since we didn’t need to be in Vienna until Wednesday evening, we decided to fly from London to Prague on Monday for a quick 48-hour visit. Our flight arrived around 2:00 p.m., and we took an Uber to our hotel, the Lindner Hotel Prague Castle. After checking in, we walked down to Old Town, and, of course, it started to rain. Luckily, after a little exploring, we found U Supa, a bar we’d enjoyed on our last trip. Later, we had dinner at Restaurant U Mecenáše in the Mala Strana neighborhood.

On Tuesday, we hopped on Tram 22 to explore some areas outside the main tourist zone. We stopped by the Dancing House and then joined a 2½-hour walking tour of Old Town and the Jewish Quarter, which we both really enjoyed.

Since we’d skipped lunch, we had an early dinner at Fat Cat. That evening, we went to the Cathedral of St. Clement to hear members of the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra Prague perform a one-hour concert featuring works by Vivaldi, Mozart, Bach, Dvořák, and others.

This morning, after another delicious breakfast at the Lindner, we joined a 2½-hour tour that took us across Charles Bridge, through Kampa Island, Lennon Wall, and back into Mala Strana before finishing at Prague Castle where we saw the changing of the guard.

We’re now on a late-afternoon train to Vienna. Unfortunately, when I booked the tickets last week, I didn’t realize it wasn’t a direct route, we’ll be transferring in Břeclav.

Hi There – I love these updates. Steve and I are headed to Vienna to visit friends who just moved tomorrow night! We arrive Friday afternoon. Would be so much fun to see you! Congrats on double kiddo engagement – so nice to hear happy news given all the unpleasantness!
